I’m Matteo Fagiolino, a portrait photographer based in Bologna. My practice is born from a curiosity about light and a desire to tell people's stories with sincere, carefully composed images. Light is the central element of my work: I seek it out and shape it to highlight expressions, features and the small details that make each subject unique. I pay close attention to details — light, colour and setting — because these are the elements that transform a good photograph into a memorable portrait. When appropriate, I integrate analog and digital techniques to achieve tones and film-like grain that enhance the emotional impact of the image. I grew up between Bologna and Rimini and have worked in a variety of settings in Italy and abroad, developing a narrative sensitivity that I bring to every portrait: each shot should evoke a memory or reinforce an identity.
